Barracuda Raw Bar & Grill, Coconut Grove, Miami, FL - 03.14.11 from 10 pm to 3 am

Bucking futt hair Batman, this night was entertaining! Barracuda's was a special place...various hanging plastic fish, pirate flags and a wooden bear (I think it was a bear) in the corner created a visual playground for our Jukebox Hijacking this Monday evening. Patriot Saloon, New York, NY - 03.08.11 from 7 to 9:30 pm

On the southern end of Manhattan island sits the infamous "Patriot" bar. It is know for cheap beer, big-boobed-barmaids and a fully stacked country jukebox. Orange County Social Club, Carrboro, NC - 03.05.11 from 10 to midnight

While manual jukeboxes are charming, they can be challenging. This evening at Orange County Social Club near the University of North Carolina (UNC) our jukebox posed two main challenges; the zero was not working on the number pad and the magazine flip kept jamming...poop.

Never-the-less, with our guest hijacker in tow, we accepted the challenge and here are the top 13 in order of PAR (Positive Audience Reaction).

1. Time Won't Let Me - The Outsiders
2. It's Like That - Run-D.M.C.

Our selections were so intense the jukebox had to be unplugged...and the hijack was over.

The Whig, Columbia, SC - 02.27.11 from 7 to 11 pm

Beneath the 1200 Main building in downtown Columbia, SC we entered The Whig through a graffiti-filled hallway. Plunging drapes, various animal skeletons (including a saber tooth tiger skull that triples the potency of your jaeger bomb upon a "tooth dip") and a dim orange glow set the stage for this eclectic Jukebox Hijackers affair.

The jukebox was special. No internet connection or touchscreen here, just a good ol' fashion Rowe model A magazine flip CD jukebox...delightful. Aside from the pet hedgehog named Fern at the end of the bar, this crowd was steeped in "indie" culture and railed against anything mainstream (except for sublimely ironic twists such as ELO.)

To date, this has been our most challenging and rewarding hijack...and here are the top 15.

1. Day Tripper - Nancy Sinatra
2. Streets of Baltimore - Gram Parsons
3. Psycho - The Sonics

Whiskey Creek Sports Pub, Masonboro Island, NC - 01.21.11 from 7 to 9 pm

Three words: camo, coors and country...that's what one might notice first about this bar we moseyed into on an early Friday night. Based on our lack of expertise in the pop-country genre, it might have been easier to hog-tie a baby cow in six seconds then to gain any Positive Audience Reaction (PAR) here.

Against stiff odds, we managed to wrangle this county crowd and here's the top 15:

1. Hot For Teacher - Van Halen
2. Tupelo Honey - Van Morrison

Alley Cat Lounge, Indianapolis, IN - 01.17.11 from 9 pm to 1 am

Two cheeseburgers and a couple of dollars began the Jukebox Hijackers affair with the highly regarded Alley Cat Lounge in Indianapolis, Indiana. As we walked past a dumpster, stray cats and other "alley" fare we were welcomed by a brightly lit and inviting interior of said dive bar.

It was early but as the crowd thickened and the tunes played on, these 15 songs earned the most PAR (Positive Audience Reaction).

Fibber's Public House, Wrightsville Beach, NC - 01.11.11 from 9 to 10:30 pm

"Is this your iPod playing?", said one unsuspecting listener to the really, really, ridiculously good looking bartender. Little did they know, the Jukebox Hijackers were in da house.
